Trivia:
Ending 19 is a reference to "The Enigma of Amigara Fault", a bonus story from the horror manga Gyo Ugomeku Bukimi by Junji Ito. The description for the video reads "You don't read much manga, do you?"
According to Mark on a livestream, ending 6 is the canon ending, and leads directly into A Date with Markiplier.
Ending 31 features references to Who Killed Markiplier?, as well as the appearance of Darkiplier. Despite this, Mark has confirmed that A Heist with Markiplier has no connection to Who Killed Markiplier? apart from this ending, and has debunked rumours that the Markiplier in this series is the same as "Actor Mark" from Who Killed Markiplier?.
This series contains several references to A Date with Markiplier.
- Ending 22 begins with a narrator saying "Ah, treasure. The chicken of the sea." This is almost identical to how the narration for the "Tuna Triumph" ending in A Date with Markiplier begins, only with "tuna" in place of "treasure".
- Both series involve you having to make a choice between two sandwiches, one PB&J and the other tuna. The scene before said choice, with an explosion causing a skeleton to land near the two of you, is almost identical in both series.
- In A Date with Markiplier, the "Mark Ded AF" ending happens if you agree to split up when Mark suggests it. In this series, splitting up always leads to a bad ending.
- In the "True End" ending of A Date with Markiplier, Wilford Warfstache says that he doesn't have you scheduled for an interview. Ending 16 of this series involved Wilford starting to interview you.
Originally, JackSepticEye was planned to play the Hermit, but he was busy, so MatPat filled the role instead.
Illinois is a very clear parody of Indiana Jones. Mark also said that he was doing a Patrick Warburton impersonation for the voice.
Ending 1's name is a reference to Jurassic Park.
Ending 21 is a reference to a scene from Avengers: Infinity War, complete with dialogue taken from that scene.
