Sonic the Hedgehog Games Achievement Guide
Because why not.
Sonic Adventure
Miles "Tails" Prower - Become friends with Tails.
You'll get this naturally playing Sonic's story.
Knuckles the Echidna - Become friends with Knuckles.
This too.
Amy Rose - Become friends with Amy.
And this.
E-102 "γ" - Become friends with E-102.
And this.
Big the Cat - Become friends with Big.
And this one too.
Sonic the Hedgehog - Clear the Sonic story.
Just do what it says.
Super Sonic - Clear all characters stories.
Again, do what it says. (And yes, that's how the trophy description is written.)
The Fastest & Strongest - Get Level A on all the Action Stages.
Once you've completed a character's story, go to the main menu and select "Trial". Select the character whose story you've just beaten and you'll be able to freely select which stage to play. Each stage has a C, B and A missions, which must be beaten in reverse order (C first, then B and then A). In order to get this trophy, you need to basically beat every single level mission in the game. This can be much harder than it sounds sometimes, so here are some helpful tips for the A missions for each character.
Sonic - Sonic's all about speed, so naturally his A missions are too. One really helpful tip - you can make Sonic go much faster along flat ground by rhythmically tapping the action button to make him do short Spin Dashes. Also, learn to master the Dash Jump - charge up a Spin Dash for a second, release it and immediately press the jump button for a very long jump that can be used to take huge shortcuts to shave off chunks of your time if used well. As with all time trials, it also helps immensely to memorise the stage layout and where all the shortcuts are, and just keep practising until you get it. (It also really REALLY helps to have the Crystal Ring to shorten the length of Sonic's charge up for his Light Speed Dash. If you don't know where this optional upgrade is, then go to the hotel in Station Square and go up the stairs. You'll see two switches. Stand on one to open the door across the way, then charge up a Light Speed Dash and you'll hit the other switch and make a trail of Rings appear. Dash along the Rings and head into the door quickly before it closes. The Crystal Ring is in this room. Then just hit the switch to get out again.)
Tails - Tails's A missions require you to beat an even faster Sonic (and Eggman in the final stage). Honestly, I don't remember really having any trouble with these, just make sure you take as many shortcuts as possible (remember, Tails can fly...) The Jet Anklet, which increases Tails's flying speed and time, also helps immeasurably. (To find this upgrade, head to the sewer canal behind the elevator leading to Twinkle Park in Station Square. Fly up through the hole in the ceiling and you'll find it.)
Knuckles - Knuckles's A missions again give you a time limit. There is a useful trick for these missions. Find the location of an Emerald Shard, but don't collect it. Pause and choose Restart (you'll lose a life, so make sure you have a few of them in stock) and then head over there as quickly as possible and grab it. Repeat the process with the other two Emerald Shards.
Amy - Again, these missions are timed. Amy runs very slowly, but the trick is, her High Jump (swing the hammer when she's running at full speed) launches her very high and very far, so can be used to cover large distances in little time and even get over gaps and up ledges for shortcuts. Having the Long Hammer helps, since it increases Amy's jump height and distance when using the High Jump. (To get this, after completing Amy's story, go back to the place where you played Hedgehog Hammer on the Egg Carrier (if you forgot, it's inside the ship - take the monorail near where you land from Station Square, then go through the right-most of the three doors). Beat 3000 points in Hedgehog Hammer and you'll be rewarded with this.)
Big - Big's stages are, in my opinion, the most frustrating ones to complete. Big's A Rank missions require you to catch a 2000g fish, and then catch Froggy. This is ridiculously annoying for three reasons. Firstly, it's near-impossible to tell the weight of a fish from its looks. Secondly, the fishing mechanic is frustrating and badly-programmed. And thirdly, if your line snaps when you hook a fish, you lose a life. The best tip I can give is be patient, which is easier said than done because these missions WILL test your patience to its very limit.
First off, before you do anything, make sure you have the Power Rod and all four Lures. The Power Rod can be found in the Ancient Jungle, in Big's house under his bed. The first Lure is in Station Square, where Tails's Jet Anklet was. The second is in the Mystic Jungle. Go to Big's house, then go down the second path from the left away from it, then go down the second path from the left again and you'll come to an enclosed clearing with this in. The third is in Ice Cap, and is the only upgrade to be found in an Action Stage. To get it, at the start, go up the stairs on the left until you reach a small pool. Jump into the pool and follow the underwater passage to a new area, which will have dinosaur bones on ice and a pool covered in ice. Throw the nearby boulder onto the ice and dive in, and head to the bottom where you'll find this Lure. The fourth and final Lure is on the Egg Carrier, in one of the prison cells.
Look for the biggest fish you can find (the robot fish are usually good bets), cast your line and wait until the fish bites, then SLOWLY reel it in, keeping a close eye on the tension meter. If the fish pulls, move or rotate the analogue stick to yank it back in front of Big (this is something I wish I'd known before, since it helps a lot with reeling the fish in). Tap the action button in a slow rhythm, remember to yank the fish back in front of you if it pulls off to the side (and keep in mind you cannot yank and reel at the same time), have patience, keep at it and try not to get too frustrated. You'll get it eventually.
E-102 - Again, these are timed, but since Gamma's levels already have a time limit, these instead make you complete the level with a certain amount of time left on the clock. The best tips I can offer are go fast and shoot as many enemies as possible (and try to lock on to as many enemies as you can in one go) to increase your time limit. Also don't forget there are bosses at the ends of all the levels except the first one, so make sure you leave enough time to beat them (though most can be beaten in seconds quite easily). As always, keep practising and try not to get too frustrated.
Sub Game Master - Get all Emblems of the Sub Games.
The Sub Games can be accessed from the Trial menu or from Adventure Fields. Each one has one Emblem for just completing it, and another for doing well on it. Here's what the optional Emblems are for each one. (Note that you only have to get the Emblem once, you don't have to do it with each character.)
Sky Chase Act 1 - Get a total score of 8000. This can be done as Sonic or Tails.
Sky Chase Act 2 - Get a total score of 20000. This can be done as Sonic or Tails.
Sand Hill - Get a total score of 10000. This can be done as Sonic or Tails (even though Sonic doesn't go to Sand Hill in his story...)
Twinkle Circuit - Beat the best time on every lap for two races. This can be done with any character.
Chao's Best Friend - Get all Emblems of the Chao Race.
You'll need a strong Chao for this, so I refer you to my All-S-Rank Light Chaos guide (link in the Sonic Adventure 2 section). Once you've gotten your fully-powered-up Light Chaos, send them off to all the races and have them dominate them all to get the Emblems.
The Adventurer - Get all Emblems in the Adventure Field.
There are twelve of these in total, and here's where they are.
Sonic:
- In Station Square, go to the train station and run up the stairs. Look for a brown ledge jutting out of the wall near the top of the stairs. Jump on it and run along it to find this Emblem.
- In the Burger Shop in Station Square.
- On the Egg Carrier, in front of where you enter the Sky Deck for the first time, turn around and hit the spring to launch up to a green platform with cannons on it. Jump into each of the cannons and one of them will shoot you up to an Emblem.
Tails:
- On a cliff behind Tails's workshop. You need to fly to it.
- In the alley near Casinopolis where the Ice Stone is, fly straight up to find this Emblem.
- Outside the town hall in Station Square, cut all the weeds on the grass patches with the Shippo Kaiten Kōgeki (or Renzoku Shippo Kaiten Kōgeki if you managed to get the Rhythm Brooch) and you'll find an Emblem.
- Transform the Egg Carrier, then fly up onto the roof of the pool building. Fly to the rotating disc high up and you'll find this.
- Go back to the door that leads to the switch that transforms the ship. It might be hard to see because of the camera, but there should be another ledge below you with a door on. Jump/fly down there, head into the door, press the switch and grab the Emblem.
Knuckles:
- On the bridge leading to the Master Emerald altar, go about halfway across, then jump off to the left and glide and you should see an Emblem in midair.
- In the Egg Carrier pool area, on one of the diving boards. Climb up the wall to get it.
- In the Ancient Jungle, glide into the top of the hollow tree at Big's house to find this.
- After getting the previous Emblem, drop (don't glide) out of the tree. Take the leftmost path heading away from Big's house and you'll find this Emblem on a path near a fallen tree. (If you hit a stream, you've taken the wrong path.)
The Perfect Adventurer - Get 130 Emblems.
If you get all the previous achivements, you'll get this too. (If you're missing one, you probably haven't completed the Super Sonic story.)
Metal Sonic - Get all 130 Emblems by playing Sonic Adventure DX.
For this, you'll need to download the "DX Upgrade" DLC. Once you've got it and gotten all 130 Emblems, go to Trial mode and you'll notice a new character called Metal Sonic. Select that one and you'll get this achievement.
Metal Sonic Master - Get Level A on all the Action Stages by using Metal Sonic.
Remember Sonic's levels? Well, have fun doing them again!
Mission All Accomplished - Clear all 60 missions.
On the main menu, select Mission after beating all characters' stories (you also need the DX Upgrade DLC). There's a good mission guide on GameFAQs, so go check that out. This is just a list of all the missions and which character is required for them.

Sonic Adventure 2
Hello World - Clear stage 1 on either side in story mode.
Just beat the first level of either Hero Side Story or Dark Side Story. If you're playing the game, you'll get this automatically.
Chao! - Name your Chao for the first time.
Collect a Chao Key in a stage or go to the Chao World on the map. Go into the Chao Garden and wait for a Chao to hatch (don't throw the egg against the wall, it's not nice). Pick up the newborn Chao and take it through the other door, then go to the Fortuneteller and have her name your Chao, or pick a name yourself.
Chao Raiser - Raise all 5 properties of any one Chao up to level 10.
For this, you'll need either animals or Chaos Drives - I usually use the latter. Chaos Drives can be obtained from enemies - I recommend playing Tails or Eggman's stages, since they usually have a lot of enemies to obtain Chaos Drives from. Focus on one stat at a time, going back and forth between the levels and the Chao Garden and giving your Chao Chaos Drives until it hits level 10 in all stats: Swim, Fly, Run, Power and Stamina. (To raise your Chao's stamina, you need to give it food. Any food will do, and Chao normally feed themselves anyway, so this one will increase automatically, if a lot more slowly.)
HERO! - Clear HERO side in story mode.
Just play the game.
DARK! - Clear DARK side in story mode.
See above.
Boss Attack - Clear all 3 modes in Boss Attack Mode.
Boss Attack Mode can be unlocked by completing the game, I believe. There are three modes: Hero, Dark and All. Clear all modes (they're essentially boss rushes, and if you've beat the game then you've already fought them, so you should know how to beat them) to get this achievement. If you can't do it, practise.
Mission Complete -Win all A RANKs (5 A RANKs) in any one stage in story mode.
Once you've completed a level, go to the world map and play the other missions, getting an A Rank on all of them. Note that the parameters for an A Rank are much more forgiving than they might seem - you don't have to play absolutely perfectly, you can afford to mess up once or maybe twice and still get an A. For Sonic and Shadow's levels, go for speed, tricks and chaining Homing Attacks. For Tails and Eggman, try to lock on to and destroy as many enemies at once as possible. For Knuckles and Rouge, try to find the Emerald Shards quickly without using any hints (learning their locations helps too). The A Rank for missions 2 and 3 is purely based on time, and missions 1, 4 and 5 are based on your final score.
Heaven or Hell - Raise a HERO Chao and a DARK Chao with your hero and dark characters respectively.
Just have a hero character (Sonic, Tails, or Knuckles) look after one Chao and a dark character (Shadow, Eggman, or Rouge) look after another Chao. Eventually they'll evolve into a Hero Chao and Dark Chao respectively and you'll get this achievement.
Beyond Good And Evil - Clear LAST part in story mode.
After completing both the Hero Side Story and the Dark Side Story, you'll unlock the Last Episode. Complete that to finish the game and get this achievement.
Speedy Racer - Win NO.1 in expert level in kart race.
Kart Race can be accessed from the main menu (I think it gets unlocked after you beat the driving levels, so Route 101 on the Hero Side and Route 280 on the Dark Side). You'll have to clear Beginner and Standard before you can do Expert. Memorise the layout of the tracks, learn to drift to make tighter turns (release the accelerator briefly and then press it again while turning to drift/skid, which helps with tight corners a lot) and keep practising and you'll eventually get it.
Emblem Collector - Unlock 90 emblems.
You get one emblem for completing each level's mission, several for completing the Chao Races and Chao Karate, one for each of the boss modes and one for each of the Kart Race levels. Basically, just do everything. (If you want a high-level Chao for the Chao missions, check out my All-S-Rank Chaos Chao guide here.) Also, each level has an "all A ranks" emblem too, so you'll need to do the next achievement in order to get this one.
You Are The Legend - Win A RANK in all stages in story mode.
Just go for it. This is a tough one, but just try it one mission at a time and don't let the game frustrate you too much. Keep practising, use the strategies I mentioned for the Mission Complete achievement above, and don't be discouraged. You can do it!
Level 4! - Play all level 4 stages in Action Race, Treasure Hunter and Shooting Battle.
You'll need to get the Battle DLC for this one (or whatever it's called). Once you've got it, just play all the level 4 stages in 2P mode (you can do it on your own if you don't have any friends to play with).
Karate Master - Beat all your enemies in Super Level in Chao Karate 1P mode.
Again, you need the Battle DLC for this. Use your high-level Chao and go for it!
Emblem Mania - Unlock all 180 emblems.
Again, Battle DLC is required. Just... do everything. Like, every single possible thing the game has to offer. Levels, minigames, Chao stuff, the works.
Sonic Generations
All Trophies Collected! - Collect all Trophies.
Well, just do what it says.
The Opening Act - Race through the first stage.
Just play the game, man.
GREEN HILL Restored! - Restore the GREEN HILL Stage Gate.
Another story one.
CHEMICAL PLANT Restored! - Restore the CHEMICAL PLANT Stage Gate.
And this.
SKY SANCTUARY Restored! - Restore the SKY SANCTUARY Stage Gate.
This too.
SPEED HIGHWAY Restored! - Restore the SPEED HIGHWAY Stage Gate.
Yep.
CITY ESCAPE Restored! - Restore the CITY ESCAPE Stage Gate.
Do I need to say it?
SEASIDE HILL Restored! - Restore the SEASIDE HILL Stage Gate.
You know by now, right?
CRISIS CITY Restored! - Restore the CRISIS CITY Stage Gate.
As above, so below.
ROOFTOP RUN Restored! - Restore the ROOFTOP RUN Stage Gate.
And the story continues.
PLANET WISP Restored! - Restore the PLANET WISP Stage Gate.
Almost to the end.
Sunny Side Up - Defeat Death Egg Robot.
Another story-based one. If you don't know how to beat him, this is how. Dodge his punch, then he'll jump. Run underneath him and hit him in the butt. Do the same thing again, then wait until he knocks you up onto the platforms. Jump onto a switch to make a bomb appear, then bait him into attacking the bomb and make sure you're on a higher level at a safe distance. Once he attacks, jump onto his arm and then press X/A when prompted. Do that one more time and Death Egg Robot will be hard-boiled.
Perfect Punisher - Defeat Perfect Chaos.
Run and jump along the platforms, then boost when prompted and shoot right into his body. Run across the platforms again and eventually you'll bounce up and be able to Homing Attack his head, so do so. Get over to him again and hit him with another boost attack and then you'll be on floating platforms in midair. Navigate over towards him and deliver one final Homing Attack to end the reign of Perfect Chaos.
Boom Boom Dragoon - Defeat Egg Dragoon.
Sonic's in auto-run mode for this one, so just concentrate on moving left and right. Hit the ramp (use L1/LB and R1/RB to sidestep) and launch yourself onto the grind rails. Grind along them and hit the ring at the end, then Homing Attack if you get the opportunity. Sidestep to avoid the ice and fire and jump to avoid the lasers. When the view goes side-on, jump over the ice shots, then when the walls come down, wall jump up them (avoiding the falling ice shots) and Homing Attack his head. Keep attacking him like this and eventually you'll hit a skydiving section. Use Square/X to dive faster, avoid his attacks and Homing Attack his stomach. If you're good/lucky, you might be able to get two hits in before the skydiving segment ends. Afterwards, you'll be close enough for a Homing Attack, so smack him, then repeat as above. Eventually, you'll make the Egg Dragoon go boom.
Scrap Metal - Defeat Metal Sonic.
To find Metal Sonic, jump onto the platform to the right of the Chemical Plant Zone Stage Gate and jump up the ledges. You fight him as Classic Sonic. To defeat him, run ahead and jump over as he charges, then whack him when he's recovering. Keep running, and hit him again while he's charging his next attack. Move back and forth to dodge the streetlights, then you'll get another attack opportunity, so make good use of it. Get up on the high platforms to dodge his next attack and keep running! Eventually, he'll lose his charge and try one final attack, so jump on him to send Metal Sonic to the scrapyard.
Shadow Boxing - Defeat Shadow.
To find Shadow, jump on the CITY ESCAPE level name (yes, you can do that), then jump to the left. Hit the booster and go around the loop to drop in on Shadow. Boost up and grab those purple floaty things before Shadow does. Get two and then you'll power up Sonic's attack. Boost into the meteors to damage Shadow. If Shadow gets two, just sidestep to avoid his Chaos Spear. Once you've got Sonic powered up, just hit all the meteors (Sonic will boost automatically) and then run into Shadow to defeat him. (I couldn't think of anything clever for this one, sorry.)
Silver Got Served - Defeat Silver.
To find Silver, jump on the ledge to the left of Crisis City, then bounce up the flagpoles. Immediately jump and Homing Attack the car, then Homing Attack Silver. Sidestep and jump to avoid the cars and other obstacles, and when Silver lifts up more of them with his telekinesis, Homing Attack along them to hit him again. When the view goes side-on, watch which object spins and move aside to avoid it, then quickly avoid the others. Jump onto the mass of cars and run along it to hopefully hit Silver again. Sidestep or jump as necessary to avoid his psycho-shockwaves. When he uses Meteor Smash, run down, sidestep to avoid the buildings and Homing Attack him one more time to knock Silver down to second place.
Treasure Hunter - Collect all the Chaos Emeralds.
These are obtained by completing levels and then collecting the Chaos Emerald when it appears in the hub.
All Stages Cleared! - Clear Sonic Generations.
Just, uh... finish the game. Simple.
Greased Lightning - Clear GREEN HILL Act 1 within one minute.
This is actually pretty tough, but like all time trials, all it takes is learning the level layout and where the shortcuts are, and just practising until you're good enough to do it.
Bright Star - Get Rank S in an Act.
Rank S is actually really easy to get in this game. As long as you don't completely suck, you should get an A, which will turn into an S if you also managed to finish the Act without losing a life.
Shooting Star - Get Rank S in three Acts.
Just do what it says.
Blazing Meteor - Get Rank S in seven Acts.
Keep racking up those S Ranks.
Blue Comet - Get Rank S in twelve Acts.
Are we having fun yet?
Big Bang - Get Rank S in all Acts.
Time to show your skills. It only counts main levels, not Challenge Acts, Rival Battles or bosses.
Trickstar - Pull off a seven or more trick combo or six trick combo ending in a finishing trick.
To do a trick combo, hit a rainbow ramp or Rainbow Ring, then press various directions on the control stick or D-Pad to make Sonic do tricks (this can only be done as Modern Sonic). There are a few places in the game which will give you the opportunity to perform seven tricks (or six tricks plus a finisher), so play the game and you might even just naturally get this one. The earliest you can do it is in Green Hill Act 2, after the section with the Giant Chopper.
Eradicator - Defeat 100 enemies.
You'll probably do this before you're even halfway through the stages.
Ring King - Reach the goal without dropping any of the rings you collected in GREEN HILL Act 1.
So basically, just finish the level without taking damage. Since it's the first level, this shouldn't be too hard.
Action Hero - Perform all of Sonic's moves in Act 2.
The moves you need to do are Sliding, Drift, Light Speed Dash, Wall Jump and Stomping. Do all of those and you'll get the achievement.
Can't Touch This - Take no damage from the final boss and clear the stage.
This one's annoying, mainly because "damage" just means "getting knocked back", so sometimes it's hard to tell if you took damage or not. For a boss strategy, avoid the obstacles and attacks and boost until you can eventually boost into its core. If it switches dimensions, press Triangle/Y to switch Sonics and go after it. Move back to avoid its warping arm attack in 2D space. When you get close, sometimes it'll do a hand-clap attack, so move up or down to avoid it, then continue boosting into its core. Don't forget to keep your Ring count up too. When it slows down time, just make sure you aren't in the path of any attacks and wait until time speeds up again. Eventually, you'll be prompted to press L1/LB and R1/RB, so do it and hold them down until the Time Eater gets erased. Again, it all comes down to practice and patience. Just keep trying and don't be discouraged.
Bonds of Friendship - Complete all Challenge Acts featuring Sonic's friends.
The Challenge Acts are unlocked by completing both Acts of a stage. Just finish all the ones that have Sonic either competing against or being helped by another character. These are: Knuckles: Horde of Enemies, Tails: Way Past Fast, Tails: Toxic Skies, Amy: Taking the Leap Together!, Amy: Topsy Turvy, Knuckles: Buried Treasure, Cream: Chao Hunt, Espio: Master of Camouflage, Rouge: The Bombardier, Cream: Helping Hand, Espio: Way of the Ninja, Rouge: The Temptress, Vector: Through the Storm, Blaze: Piercing the Flames, Charmy: Don't Bug Me!, Vector: Pick Up the Beat, Chase After Blaze and Charmy: High in the Sky.
Walkie Talkie - Chat with each of Sonic's friends you have saved.
After completing all the Acts, just walk through the hub and talk to everyone. Here's who you need to talk to.
Classic Tails (outside Green Hill, as Classic Sonic)
Tails (outide Green Hill, as Modern Sonic)
Amy (outside Chemical Plant)
Knuckles (outside Sky Sanctuary)
Cream (outside Speed Highway)
Rouge (outside City Escape)
Espio (outside Seaside Hill)
Blaze (outside Crisis City)
Vector (outside Rooftop Run)
Charmy (outside Planet Wisp)
Join the Ranks - Join the rankings.
Choose Online Mode at the main menu, then choose Ranking Attack. Play through any Act and you'll get this achievement.
A 30-Second Test - Participate in a 30 Second Trial.
Choose Online Mode, then choose 30 Second Trial. Again, play any Act and you'll get this one.
Jump for Joy! - Find the spring hidden in GREEN HILL Act 1 and reach the goal with a Red Star Ring.
Take the highest route possible as you go through the Act. Eventually, you'll encounter a Buzzer flying around a totem pole. Bounce off the Buzzer and hit the spring hidden in the totem pole to bounce up into a Red Star Ring. Then just clear the stage.
Walk on Water - Clear CHEMICAL PLANT Act 2 without entering the water.
Simple enough, just make sure not to fall into the water no matter what. Boost along the surface and take the high road to avoid it.
Walk on Air - Clear SKY SANCTUARY Act 1 without falling and losing a life.
Just do what it says. If you can't do it, practise!
The Byway or the Highway - Get the Red Star Ring located on the shortcut route in SPEED HIGHWAY Act 2 and reach the goal.
After the rocket, you'll go through some twisty paths. Once you do that, stop and slowly walk around the corner to the right and you'll see a ramp. Boost up it and go down the highway until you see some boosters and cans. On the left, there'll be a single booster in front of a small catwalk. Go up onto the catwalk, then boost at the end and jump to get the Red Star Ring. Then finish the level.
Demolition Derby - Wreck 30 or more cars in CITY ESCAPE Act 2.
Just run into cars to wreck them. Getting 30 or more is easy. You need to finish the Act to get the trophy.
Secret Sleuth - Get the Red Star Ring located in the hidden room in SEASIDE HILL Act 1 and reach the goal.
Go along the high route and you'll eventually reach two pillars moving up and down. Stand on the left one as it goes down, then go left and you'll find an extra life and a Red Star Ring. Grab them both and finish the Act.
Look Both Ways - Reach the goal in CRISIS CITY Act 2 without being hit by a tornado-carried cars or rocks.
Just keep your eyes open and your reflexes sharp, that's all I can say, really.
A Quick Breather - Get the Red Star Ring atop the highest spot in ROOFTOP RUN Act 2 and reach the goal.
During the segment before the end, when you're chasing the flying enemies that shoot lasers at you, the Red Star Ring is on the right hand side, so stay on the right to make sure you get it.
Color Power! - Get the Red Star Ring by using an Orange Wisp in PLANET WISP Act 2 and reach the goal.
Go through the stage as normal until you end up on a moving platform riding along a railing going to the left. Grab the Orange Wisp on the way, then just before hitting the booster rings, rocket up (following the Rings) and you'll hit a Red Star Ring just before breaking through a floor. Then just get to the end of the level.
Supersonic! - Race through a regular stage as Super Sonic.
After defeating the final boss, purchase the Super Sonic Skill from the Skill Shop. Equip it to either Classic or Modern Sonic, then begin any stage. Collect 50 Rings, then press Triangle/Y to transform into Super Sonic. Finish the level and make sure you're still Super Sonic when you hit the Goal Post/Goal Ring.
Mad Skillz - Get all Skills.
Skills can be purchased from the Skill Shop, and new Skills can be unlocked by completing levels and Challenge Acts. Buy all the Skills for Classic and Modern Sonic to get this achievement. The Skills in question are: Power Brake, Sure-Footed, Safety Net, Last Chance, 10-Second Rings, Athleticism, Time Brake, Super Sonic, Flame Shield, Aqua Shield, Thunder Shield, Shield, Treasure Scanner, Breath Holder, Ring Time, Blast Off, Speed Up, Power Stomp, Acceleration, Boost Gauge Up and Endless Boost.
(Hedge)Hogging It All Up! - Get all collectibles.
Collectibles can be earned from completing levels with S Ranks. Also, every time you complete a Challenge Act, a bell will appear above the portal. Jump into it and a musical note will fly out. Catch the note to get a collectible.
Time Attacker - Play Ranking Attack on all stages.
See "Join the Rankings" up there? Do that for all stages.
Red Ring Collector - Get all Red Star Rings.
Most of the Red Star Rings aren't that hidden, and just require taking alternate paths or keeping your eyes open. There are many video walkthroughs on YouTube if you're having trouble finding certain ones. Don't forget, once you get a Red Star Ring, you have to finish the level in order for it to count.
Halfway Point - Clear half the Challenge Acts.
Says it all, really.
Mission Accomplished! - Clear all the Challenge Acts.
Go for it!
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Emerald Hill - Clear the Emerald Hill Zone 1.
All these story ones.
Fast Emerald - Beat Emerald Hill Zone 1 in under 35 seconds in single-player or co-op mode.
This one requires some pretty decent speedrunning skills to get through. Memorise the level, learn the fastest route, go as fast as possible and keep practising. You'll get it eventually.
Fast Chemical - Beat Chemical Plant Zone 1 in under 45 seconds.
This one is easier than it sounds. Go on the highest route and use the same advice for "Fast Emerald".
Casino - Get to the Casino Night Zone.
Another story one.
Super Sonic - Become Super Sonic.
Collect 50 Rings and hit a Star Post to open a portal to a Special Stage. Complete all seven Special Stages to get all Chaos Emeralds. Once you've done that, collect 50 Rings, jump and press jump again in the air to turn into Super Sonic.
Extended Super - Stay in Super Sonic mode for one minute.
Sonic loses one ring every second he stays in Super form, so all you have to do is collect more than 60 Rings and then turn Super.
Chaos Emerald - Get one Chaos Emerald.
See "Super Sonic".
Chaos Master - Get all the Chaos Emeralds.
See "Chaos Emerald".
Conquering Time - Beat the game in under an hour.
Use save states to your advantage here, and try to get Super Sonic as early as possible (it's actually possible to get all seven Chaos Emeralds in the first Act, if you know what you're doing).
All Multiplayer - Play all four multiplayer zones.
Just do that.
Online Racer - Win 10 versus zones in online play.
You'll need a fairly good online connection for this.
Win - Beat the game.
Do your best.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode I
The Story Begins - Clear SPLASH HILL ZONE, ACT 1.
This is the first level, so you really shouldn't have any problems. If you can't do this, then honestly, you should probably try something else.
Crush Dr. Eggman - Defeat a boss for the first time.
You'll get this as you play through the story, and the first boss is a cakewalk, so again, not too much of a problem.
The First Chaos Emerald - Acquire a Chaos Emerald.
To get the Chaos Emeralds, you need to go to the Special Stages. You can unlock these by finishing a level (except a boss level) with 50 Rings and then jumping into the Giant Ring at the end of the level. Once there, navigate through the rotating maze to reach the Chaos Emerald. Don't touch the red ! spheres, and don't let time run out! If you fail, you can replay unlocked Special Stages from the level select.
Enemy Hunter - Defeat 1,000 enemies.
This takes a while, but it's not hard. An easy (though kind of boring) way to do it is to start Lost Labyrinth Act 1, kill the first three enemies, then retry, and keep doing that until you get the achievement. Personally though, I got it by just playing through the stages and killing as many enemies as I could on my way through, then replaying them until I got enough.
Golden Flash - Clear all Acts as Super Sonic.
Once you get all seven Chaos Emeralds, collect at least 50 Rings and then press Triangle/Y to transform into Super Sonic. Then just clear the stage, making sure you're still Super Sonic when you touch the Goal Post. Super Sonic is very fast and invincible, so it should be easy to clear all the stages, the hard part sometimes is just getting enough Rings to turn Super in the first place.
All Stages Cleared! - Defeat the final boss and view the ending.
Another story-based achievement, so just finish the game and you'll get it.
Contender - Upload your recorded scores and clear times for all stages.
You'll need to play through each stage twice, including bosses and Special Stages - once in Score Attack Mode and once in Time Attack Mode. On the level select, press Square/X to switch between Score Attack and Time Attack. Once you have a recorded score and time for all stages, press Triangle/Y on the level select to view the Leaderboards. Scroll through the levels using the R1/RB buttons to upload your scores and times for all of them, and you'll get this achievement. (It doesn't matter whether you use Sonic or Super Sonic, and no, you don't have to get a score and time for both of them.)
Ring Collector - Collect all the Rings in 'Special Stage 1' and Clear the stage.
This one isn't too hard, the stage itself is pretty easy and there aren't any "hidden" Rings. The only thing that makes it hard is the awkward controls for the Special Stages in this game, but that's unfortunately something that can't be helped. Just go slow (but not too slow, don't want to run out of time) and make sure to grab every Ring you see.
Immortal - Build up 99 or more extra lives.
For this one, just play Casino Street Zone over and over again - you get so many Rings in that Zone that you'll get loads of extra lives in no time.
Super Sonic Genesis - Acquire all seven Chaos Emeralds.
You remember how to get a Chaos Emerald? Just do that six more times.
Speed's My Game - Clear SPLASH HILL ZONE ACT 1 in less than a minute.
This one is pretty tough, but it can be done with practice. Get familiar with the stage - memorise its layout and where all the shortcuts are. I believe you are allowed to use Super Sonic, which does also help. Just keep trying, shaving off time where you can until you finally get it under a minute. Good luck.
Untouchable - Clear the E.G.G. STATION ZONE without taking any damage.
Oh, this one is a royal pain. E.G.G. Station Zone is the final Zone in the game, and it's a mini-boss gauntlet ending with one of the hardest bosses I've ever fought in a 2D Sonic game (yes, even harder than Big Arm from Sonic 3 & Knuckles). There are many strategies that work, but here's how I did it.
Note: Given that you need to take no damage anyway, don't worry about grabbing any Rings.
Each boss takes four hits to beat, except the last one which takes a ridiculous amount of hits.
Egg Mobile-H is a joke - you can beat it in seconds. Stand on the left platform and start Homing Attacking as soon as you can and as fast as you can.
For Catcher Eggman, Spin Dash up the walls and jump off to bonk it on the head. Go back down around the curve, up the other side and hit it again. When it goes up high, Spin Dash up the wall, jump off, and bounce between the boss and the bumpers on the wall until it's dead.
For the Labyrinth Zone boss, memorise the patterns. Learn how each one works - where to stand and where and when to jump. That's all I can say, really - this one is all about memorisation. For some patterns you can get two hits in, but others you can only do one. Just make sure the retracting pillars don't pull you into the boss.
For Flying Eggman, hold Right immediately as soon as the boss starts and Sonic will automatically avoid the first projectile and be in range to strike. After that, make sure you're close to the capsules when they land so the balloons bounce over your head, and Homing Attack when close enough.
Now, we come to the real challenge. The Death Egg Robot begins by walking slowly towards Sonic, so keep jumping and hitting it in the chest (DON'T use Homing Attack, or you'll bounce too far back and waste precious time). If it "flexes" its arms, wait until it puts its arms back down before continuing to attack. Hit it as much as you can before it flies up, but don't touch the legs or arms whatever you do.
After it flies up off the screen, a target will appear on Sonic. Wait until the beeping gets rapid, then move a few steps forward to avoid its stomp. It will usually start walking again after this, so keep pounding away. If it squats down, quickly Spin Dash away from it to avoid its rocket punches, then run back and continue attacking as normal.
You thought it was easy? Well, that's only the first stage. Believe me, the second is the one that will make you cry. You can tell you've hit the second stage when sirens and red lights start blaring and the Death Egg Robot seems to be malfunctioning. After this, DON'T attack it - the electricity surrounding it will damage you. Instead get right to the edge of the area away from it and charge up a Spin Dash. When you see it coming towards you, release the Dash when it's just ABOUT to jump and you will hopefully pass right underneath it. It will then start back-hopping towards you. USUALLY it will stop before it hits you and fly up, but sometimes it won't, so watch it carefully and if you see it's about to step on you, quickly Spin Dash out of the way.
Once it flies up, get to the edge of the area and charge up a Spin Dash. Release it at the last minute and WAIT on the other side of the area. It'll either fly up again (in which case repeat the same thing as before) or shoot its arms at you. The latter is what you want. Wait at the very edge, step out of the way so the falling arm doesn't hit you on the head, then once it's lodged in the floor, jump on it three times to send it back towards the boss and make him temporarily vulnerable. Run over and do what I call the Double Hit trick - jump and hit the boss, then on the rebound, Homing Attack to get an extra hit in. You can do this twice before it becomes invulnerable again, for a total of four hits.
After a while, it'll start firing lasers and energy balls. Most of the time you can dodge these with the same dodge methods for its other attacks, but keep your wits about you and don't be afraid to improvise if you need to. When it fires a laser, only the part that touches the floor is harmful, so just jump over it and the laser will harmlessly pass you.
Keep repeating the same things as before until the boss flies off the screen and you see a rapidly-moving crosshair. This is its last attack. Stand at the edge of the arena, wait until the beeping stops, then run towards the boss and deliver one final Homing Attack. Be quick, or it'll break the floor and send you falling to your death. Once you've done that, assuming you didn't get hit once during all of that (which is a GREAT deal harder than it sounds, believe me), you should get this well-earned achievement. Nice job!
Episode II
The Adventure Begins - Clear SYLVANIA CASTLE ZONE, Act 1.
It's the first level. No problem.
Rolling Combo! - Activate the Rolling Combo with Sonic and Tails.
Simply press Square/X while Sonic is standing on the ground. You're required to do this at multiple times anyway.
Metal Sonic Falls - Defeat Metal Sonic in SKY FORTRESS ZONE, Act 1.
When Metal Sonic attacks, occasionally he'll fire grey cannonballs at you. Jump into these cannonballs to knock them back at his ship and damage him. If you knock enough cannonballs back, you'll destroy his ship and get this achievement.
A Golden Wave - Defeat all bosses as Super Sonic.
This may sound easy, but don't get cocky. Boss stages don't have that many Rings, and Sonic can't stay Super forever. The safest (for a given definition of "safe") way to do it is to stay normal until just before the final blow, then turn Super and have Super Sonic deliver the final blow. The worst boss, however, is Egg Scrap Mech, the boss of Oil Desert Zone. The boss stage has only about 52 Rings in it, and requires a Rolling Combo (which deactivates Super form) at the end to make it vulnerable, so you actually NEED to go through the boss as normal Sonic, without taking any damage, then turn Super to deliver the final blow. Other than that, just make sure the final blow to every boss is done by Super Sonic and you'll be good.
All Stages Cleared! - Defeat the final foe and watch the ending.
Just finish the game. Simple.
Tag Partner - Upload a Multiplayer score or time.
Play through any stage in Multiplayer (local or online), then view the Leaderboards to get this achievement. Don't have any friends to play with? Don't worry, if you go far enough ahead of the other player in multiplayer, their character will automatically follow you, so you can still beat Multiplayer on your own.
I Love Tails - Play as Tails 50 times.
Here's the trick to this one - the person who is Player 1 must be playing as Tails. You won't get it if you have Player 2 as Tails, even if it's a local game. For a simple way to get it, go to Special Stage Act 5. Make sure P1 is Tails and P2 is Sonic, and start the level. Hold down Left and Square/X the whole way, and you'll hit the next checkpoint in around 4 seconds. You'll fail the level, but that still counts as "playing as Tails", so it'll save that to the invisible counter that tells the game how many times you played as Tails. Then just do that 49 more times. (If you see "Saving..." after the level ends, that means you're doing it right.)
Ring Collector - Beat Special Stage 1 after collecting every Ring.
Okay, here's the path. First off, don't boost unless absolutely necessary. Stay in the middle to get the first six rings, then go up on the right to get another six (12), then back in the middle for the next six (18). Up on the left for another six (24), then in the middle again for ten (34). Stay in the middle for two more lots of six (46), then up on the left as you go around the curve for ten more (56). Go back to the middle and hit the Booster to get 24 Rings (80), then hit the first Checkpoint.
Around the curve, go up on the right to get ten (90), then back in the middle to get six as you go up the hill (96). Another six are in the middle as you go down the hill (102), followed by eight in the middle shortly after (110). Go slightly up on the left side to get another eight (118), then hit the Booster and you'll get another 14 (132). Get back in the middle to get another ten (142), then go up on the right around the curve for another ten (152). Back in the middle again for the next ten (162), then go up the left side following another trail of Rings and boost at the top to snag the Rings in midair, bringing your total to 182. As you head on, stay slightly to the right, then just before you touch the three Rings there, quickly boost to the left and grab the 30 Rings there. Tails will hopefully grab the Rings on the right, bringing your total to 215. Next Checkpoint.
This is when you need to be quick. Another six in the middle (221), then on the left (228), then quickly move over to the right to get eight (236). As soon as you grab these, jump into the middle to get the 10 floating there (246), then grab the next six in the middle (252). Stay in the middle around the curve for another ten (262), then still in the middle for another six (268). Sticking to the middle for a further ten (278), then start up the challenge. Three in the middle, three on the right, three in the middle again, three on the left and the last three are in the middle. Clear the challenge to get a further 20 Rings, bringing your final total to 313 as you finish the stage.
That's it. Just memorise the route and keep practising, and eventually you'll get it.
Endurance Race - Clear all stages without returning to the World Map.
Start in Sylvania Castle Zone Act 1, and every time you finish a level, press Triangle/Y when the "Play the next Act" prompt comes up. Keep going until you beat the entire game. It takes a while, but it's no harder than just playing the game.
All Chaos Emeralds Found! - Collect all seven Chaos Emeralds.
To get to a Special Stage, it's the same as in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - collect 50 Rings, touch a Star Post, then jump into the portal. Just finish all the Special Stages.
Proof of Speed - Clear SYLVANIA CASTLE ZONE, Act 1 in one minute or less.
Like with all the speedrun ones, this one comes down to memorisation and practise.
All Red Star Rings Found! - Defeat the final foe after collecting every Red Star Ring.
Every Act (except boss acts) has one Red Star Ring in it. They usually can be found by just exploring thoroughly and keeping your eyes open, though there are guides online if you're having trouble finding some of them. Once you've gotten all of them, beat the final boss to get this achievement.
Sonic Mania
No Way? No Way - Collect gold medallions in Blue Spheres Bonus stage
To access the Bonus Stage, pass a Star Post with at least 25 Rings (or 50 Rings if playing Encore Mode) and a circle of stars will appear. Jump into the stars to access the Bonus Stage. In order to obtain a gold medallion, you must get a Perfect on the stage - i.e. obtain every single Ring in the stage. When you encounter a square of Blue Spheres, you can turn them into Rings by collecting the Blue Spheres around the perimeter of the square. Do this on every Bonus Stage (32 in total) to get the achievement.
Full Medal Jacket - Collect silver medallions in Blue Spheres Bonus stage
If you obtain "No Way? No Way", you'll also get this one automatically.
Magnificent Seven - Collect all seven Chaos Emeralds
Throughout the levels, there are Giant Rings hidden in various places. Touching one will transport you to a Special Stage, and completing that will give you a Chaos Emerald. Do that seven times and you're done.
See You Next Game - Achieve any ending
Simply complete the game with any character.
Superstar - Spin the Star Post!
You basically just need to go past a Star Post really fast. This is easiest when playing as Sonic. I got it in Chemical Plant Zone just playing through the stage normally.
That's a Two-fer - Find the hidden item boxes at the end of the Zone
When the Goal Post falls from the sky at the end of a Zone, it occasionally "digs up" an item box. For this achievement, you then need to bounce it over to a place where another item box is (by jumping at it). This can be obtained easily in Green Hill Zone - one item box is in between the purple flowers on the left, and another is under the sunflower on the right.
Now It Can't Hurt You Anymore - What would happen if you cross a bridge with a fire shield?
This one can be obtained in Green Hill Zone. You just need to obtain a Flame Barrier, then touch one of the spiky rotating log bridges.
Triple Trouble - Try for a 3 chain combo!
When playing Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (either at the end of Chemical Plant Zone or in the "Mean Bean" mode unlockable in the Extras menu), you need to set it up so you get a chain reaction (referred to as a "rensa", or combo, in the original Puyo Puyo) of at least three in a row. It can be tricky and requires a bit of luck, but keep persevering and you'll get it eventually.
The Most Famous Hedgehog in the World - Have your photos taken in Studiopolis Zone
When you encounter a Shutterbug enemy in Studiopolis, it will hover around you and occasionally snap a photo. Let it snap five photos (be careful not to let it touch you) and you'll get this achievement. Despite the name, you can do it with any character, it doesn't have to be Sonic.
Window Shopping - Let the wind take you through
This one is in Flying Battery Zone Act 2. At a certain place in the level, there's an outside section with two windows right next to each other, with a line of Rings going through the left window. When you find this place, just jump into the right window and the wind will carry you through the left window. There are video walkthroughs on YouTube if you're having trouble finding where it is.
Crate Expectations - Wreak havoc at the propaganda factory
This one is in Press Garden Zone Act 1. You need to be Sonic for this one. Near the top of the stage, there's a section with a Flame Barrier and several damaged crates. You need to use Sonic's Hinotama Dash move to break all these crates and get the achievement.
King of Speed - Get through Stardust Speedway Zone as quickly as possible
This only applies to Stardust Speedway Zone Act 2, and is easiest with Sonic. You need to beat it in under one minute, not including the boss. This is easier than it sounds, as long as you know which route to take. Basically, always take the top route, and learn when to jump to a new path rather than following the old one. As I have said many times regarding time trials, if you can't do it, practise! That's really all it takes.
Boat Enthusiast - We really like boats
This one is obtained in Hydrocity Zone Act 1. There are four boats in the stage, and you need to ride them all in one go to get this achievement. I got it by accident, but if you're having trouble, there are video walkthroughs on YouTube.
The Password is "Special Stage" - Try pushing a barrel to see how far it goes
This one is in Mirage Saloon Zone Act 2. There's a place in the level where you can push a barrel and drop down where it was to access a Giant Ring.
Secret Sub - You might have to submerge to find it
This one is in Oil Ocean Zone Act 2. Once you get to a place with a Flame Barrier on a platform in the oil surrounded by two switches, sink down in the oil underneath the Flame Barrier and you'll drop into a new area. From there, keep going down and right until you hit a wall in the oil at the very bottom of the stage. You need to go under this wall (be careful not to sink too far or you'll die) and you'll find a hidden submarine. Enter it to get this achievement.
Without a Trace - Barrel through the lava, don't let anything stop you
In Lava Reef Zone Act 1, you'll find these walking... leg machines (I don't know what to call them). Jumping on them will make them take a step. In order to get this achievement, you need to have one of these kill an enemy. Just find one with an enemy in front of it and go for it.
Collect 'Em All - Gotta gacha 'em all
This one is annoying. When you fight Gachapandora, the boss of Metallic Madness Zone Act 2, you need to have it dispense all eight of its Gashapon without destroying any of them, then beat the boss fight. So basically you need to have eight things on screen at once. This is obviously easiest when you can go Super, and I recommend Tails so you can fly around and mostly stay out of range of the enemies (including the Amy Dolls, who have an annoying tendency to hug you and self-destruct). Once you get everything on screen at once, turn Super Tails and let them have it.
Professional Hedgehog - That elusive perfect run, only a professional can achieve
Get through Titanic Monarch Zone Act 1 without taking a single hit of damage. Losing a Shield also counts as damage, and so does your partner taking damage, so it's best to do this with a single character. Being able to turn Super also helps, of course. Also, entering a Bonus Stage will invalidate the achievement. Again, despite the achievement name, you don't have to do it with Sonic. One more cautionary note: If you get hurt, you can't just press Retry - you have to choose Exit, then start the level again from the main menu. Also, be wary of the part with the moving platform with spikes, as it's very easy to get crushed there.

Don't Lose Count - Collected all Number Rings.
Just do what it says.
Silver Moon Mania - Collected Silver Moon Rings three times.
Silver Moon Rings appear after collecting all Number Rings in a stage. You need to obtain all five of them quickly, or they'll disappear and you'll have to lose a life or restart the stage to respawn them. Do this in three stages and the achievement is yours.
Reference: To the game Sonic Mania.
Our Rings are Your Rings - Collected all Silver Moon Rings.
As it says.
Ring Enthusiast - Collected a total of 10,000 Rings. (All Rings held at the end of the stage will be counted.)
You'll probably get this just playing through the story, but if not, there's a very easy way to get lots of Rings quickly. Use a Wolf Avatar with a Hover Wispon, and play through Imperial Tower. Using the Hover Wispon, you can fly across the stage and easily obtain 999 Rings. Repeat until you have this achievement. Note that you are allowed to press Retry at the end of the stage - you will still keep your Rings, since they're saved as soon as you finish the stage.
Ring Collector - Collected a total of 50,000 Rings. (All Rings held at the end of the stage will be counted.)
See Ring Enthusiast.
Ring King - Collected a total of 100,000 Rings. (All Rings held at the end of the stage will be counted.)
See Ring Collector.
Fighter - Defeated 1,000 enemies.
You'll probably naturally get this while playing through the story and doing other stuff.
Warrior - Defeated 5,000 enemies.
If you're a completionist, you'll get this naturally without many problems.
General - Defeated 10,000 enemies.
A little trickier, but still doable naturally.
Hooked on Wispons - Changed Wispons for the first time.
Just go into your Avatar Menu, select Wispon, then select a new Wispon. Easy. You can obtain more Wispons by completing missions.
Way Past Cool - Equipped a part in every slot.
Once you've completed a few missions and gotten a lot of clothing items, just do as the achievement description commands. Go to the Avatar Menu, go to Fitting Room, then equip something on every single body part on your Avatar.

Running in Style - Used the Closet.
The Closet is in the Avatar Menu. Go use it.
On a Roll - Achieved a soldier's highest honor.
As long as you don't completely suck, you'll probably get this naturally while playing the game or doing optional stuff.
Honor Roll - Achieved highest honors with all races.
This is best done while doing other things at the same time, but if you've got nothing left to do and still need more honours, play through Reverse Block 1 with a Void Wispon repeatedly until you get enough. Taking advantage of the EXP bonuses you get from doing daily missions helps too.
Global Allies - Utilized the Rental Avatar function.
The easiest way to do this is to do a green SOS Mission, which will give you a randomised Rental Avatar. During the stage, press L2/LT to switch to the Rental Avatar.
Rivalry Begins - Made it into the rankings.
When you select a stage on the World Map, press Triangle/Y to bring up the Rankings screen. You need to get a decent score on the stage and upload it to the Rankings. Once you've done good enough, you should get the achievement once you exit the Rankings screen. Of course, you need an internet connection too.

Super Sonic Rescue - Completed your first SOS Mission.
SOS Missions randomly show up in stages you've already completed. There are three kinds. The blue ones are the most annoying, requiring you to find a capsule randomly placed in the stage and break it open to rescue a trapped Avatar, then complete the stage. Green ones require you to complete the stage using a random Rental Avatar (you are allowed to switch back and forth, but you must cross the finish line while using the Rental Avatar), and red ones lock you into using a random Avatar. With all SOS Missions, you must complete them without dying, or you'll fail the mission and have to wait for a new one to appear.
Freedom Fighter - Completed 5 SOS Missions.
Keep doing those SOS Missions.
Reference: To the cartoon Sonic the Hedgehog, in which Sonic was part of a resistance group known as the Freedom Fighters.
Nameless Hero - Completed 10 SOS Missions.
Those people need our help!
Up for Any Challenge - Completed all Challenge Missions.
The Challenge Missions can be seen by pressing L1/LB on the World Map. Complete them all to get the achievement. Some of them can be harder than others, including the time trials, but persevere and you'll succeed.
