Here's a list of the differences between the Japanese and English versions of the Pokémon anime. Why? Because I thought people might be interested, and because I'm bored. I'm only focussing on the original series here, so everything before Advanced Generation. First, name changes: Satoshi became Ash Ketchum. Shigeru Orchid became Gary Oak. Orchid-hakase (lit. Professor Orchid) became Professor Oak. Kasumi became Misty (like in the games). Takeshi became Brock (ditto). Musashi and Kojirō became Jessie and James. Nyarth became Meowth. Rocket-dan (lit. the Rocket Gang) was renamed to Team Rocket. Kosaburō and Yamato became Butch and Cassidy. It's time for (some pointless trivia about) Animaniacs! Animaniacs! (yes, the exclamation point is part of the title) was initially conceived as a spin-off to Tiny Toon Adventures called Plucky Duck Adventures, starring Plucky Duck, the character from the aforementioned show, before it was decided to make it into an original show instead. When starting out, the main characters were originally three green duck brothers (similar in design to Plucky Duck). There was Yakky, the talkative one who wore a bow-tie, Smakky, the ill-tempered and violent one who always carried a large mallet, and Wakky, the eccentric and weird one. As the development process continued, a fourth, female duck (who was not named in concept art) was introduced. After their designs changed from ducks to anthropomorphic dogs, the characters morphed into what they are now. Pointless trivia about Final Fantasy. Mostly VII, IX and X. Final Fantasy X originally didn't begin as a Final Fantasy game at all. The initial concept was for an independent game called Seventeen, a science fiction game about a virus that kills people on their 18th birthday. The main character, a doctor/priestess, travels the world handing out vaccines for the disease under the employ of a pharmaceutical company/cult. It would later be revealed that the vaccines were actually causing the disease, and the company was using this to control the population. When the plot was reworked into a Final Fantasy game, the virus was changed to a monster, the pharmaceutical company was changed to a corrupt church and the doctor/priestess was changed to a summoner on a religious pilgrimage.
